In a hospital setting, every detail of the decor is crucial to the cleanliness, safety, and durability of the overall medical environment. Traditional skirting boards are prone to creating dead corners where dust accumulates, increasing the risk of cross-infection. Extending PVC flooring directly onto the wall as a skirting board, creating a seamless transition, is becoming a preferred solution for modern hospital renovations. Precise base preparation is a crucial first step in construction. Floor and wall flatness must be rigorously tested, with tolerances limited to 3mm/㎡. Medical-grade internal and external corner transition rubber strips should be used, bonded with strong adhesive for reinforcement. Specialized PVC anti-collision edge banding should also be installed to effectively protect walls from collisions with beds and medical equipment.

 

Standardize the construction process by using a squeegee to evenly apply water-based PVC flooring glue that meets medical and environmental standards to the base layer. Once the glue has dried to the desired viscosity, begin laying the PVC flooring from the interior of the room, pressing it with large cork blocks as you go to expel air. At corners, use a heat gun to gently soften the PVC flooring, making it easier to bend and shape, and achieving a perfect fit.

 

Key reinforcement nodes: At key points such as inside and outside corners, cut according to prefabricated templates, apply strong glue to the back, heat it with a heat gun, and then press firmly into place. Especially at inside corners, after the floor is installed on the wall, it is recommended to use stainless steel screws for concealed mechanical fastening and seal it with easily removable medical-grade decorative covers to ensure stability and facilitate future maintenance and repair.

 

After all tiles are laid, the seams are cleaned with a professional angle cutter to ensure there are no burrs or unevenness. A plastic welder is then used to weld them continuously and evenly, completely sealing the seams and creating a seamless, integrated structure. Finally, the weld lines are trimmed to create a smooth, flat seam that meets sterility standards that can withstand frequent chemical disinfection.

 

Through these seven rigorous construction steps, the PVC flooring and wall skirting system provides an ideal solution for hospital spaces.
