Safety flooring is specifically developed and designed to minimize the risk of spills and allow people to move around safely. By adding anti-slip particles to the flooring, we are able to reduce the impact of ground contaminants on our movement. Our products are specifically designed to reduce the risk of slips caused by a variety of common contaminants, including grease, oil and water.

Safety flooring works by incorporating anti-skid particles into the wear layer. When the quantity and quality of these anti-skid particles are sufficient, they can penetrate the water film to come into contact with the shoe, or prevent the ball bearing effect of dry contaminants.

Not all contaminants present the same slip risk, nor is the risk always present. Your level of risk will vary depending on the nature of the contaminant and whether it is persistent. Our flooring solutions are designed to match real-world scenarios, so you can match your risk to our solutions.

Lasting Slip Resistance There is a big difference between "slip resistance" and "lasting slip resistance". "Lasting slip resistance" protects people from slipping for the life of the floor. But not all safety floors on the market provide slip resistance for their life. Currently, there is no legal requirement for lasting slip resistance in safety floors, or even an agreed industry standard on how to measure it. Therefore, some anti slip safety flooring have a thin coating or relief on the surface, which can be considered safety flooring when they leave the factory, but after the safety floor is used for a period of time, the coating will wear off and the safety of users will no longer be guaranteed. Borflor safety flooring is different. We add anti-slip particles composed of silicon carbide, quartz and aluminum oxide throughout the wear layer, so it can continue to provide the same level of slip resistance for the life of the floor.

When we select a floor with a lifetime Pendulum Test Value (PTV) of ≥36, the risk of slipping is only one in a million. If other types of flooring are used, the floor may lose its slip resistance and over time the likelihood of slipping may be as high as one in two. This risk is unacceptable.
